Agreement reached for construction of "Kosova e Re" power plant

The new power plant will begin to be built in 2018 and will be operational by 2023, will be built with the latest technology and will thus reflect the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, respectively environmental protection.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, held today the meeting of the Steering Committee for the "Kosova e Re" Power Plant.

At this meeting were representatives of the US company "Contour Global" were present, an agreement was reached on the construction of the "Kosova e Re" Power Plant.

The commercial agreement is expected to be signed in the coming days and with it in Kosovo will be invested over 1 billion euros, which represents the largest investment in Kosovo's new history.

After finalization, this project will ensure energy independence for the state and people of Kosovo.

The power plant will be built with a single supercritical block, with a minimum efficiency of 40% and a gross electrical capacity of 500 MW.

With the co-generation component for central heating, there will be much greater capacities for expansion of the heating network for the cities of Prishtina, Obiliq, Drenas and Fushe Kosova,
The achievement of the agreement is the result of many years of work of the governments of Kosovo, of many people, many experts who, in difficult conditions, managed to secure a secure energy future for the country and at the same time a contract that guarantees maximum achievement for the institutions and the people of Kosovo.
