US expects Serbia recognise Kosovo, says Vucic

Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, said the United States expects his country to recognize the independence of Kosovo.

In an interview with the Belgrade-based TV Pink, Vucic stated that the outgoing US Ambassador to Belgrade, Kyle Scott, fought for better relations with Serbia and thanked him for his job.

“Ther progress is in that sense that we today speak open with America and nobody is imposing us nothing. They might have not changed their stance towards Kosovo, but we are speaking openly. Although America expects us to recognize Kosovo, our stance on this issue is being heard,” Vucic said among other things.

Vucic said that Serbia will face difficult autumn when it comes to Kosovo issue.

Talking on early elections in Kosovo due to be held on 6 October, Vucic said that Albanians are trying to exclude Serbs from decision making.
