Prishtina, capital of book for five days
At the Palace of Youth in the Kosovar capital Prishtina, on June 6 was opened the 19-th Book Fair of Kosovo.
There are about 100 publishers from Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia and Albania Diaspora that present their books in the fair up to June 11. There are 1200 new titles and 4000 other books which have come out during the recent times.
Association of Kosovo Publishers expects the number of visitors to the fair, which transforms Prishtina into the capital of the book, to be 40 thousand.
On the sidelines of the book fair, there are scheduled other activities marking the anniversary of different personalities of the Albanian world of letters.The best books in prose, poetry, translation, literary critic and essay will get a trophy of the book fair.
It is also part of the events during the fair the choice of the best writer of the year.
“All Albanian publishers take part in the fair”, said Head of Publishers’ Association of Kosovo Daut Demaku at the opening ceremony. Attending the event was the ambassador of Albania to Kosovo Qemal Minxhozi, writer, and diplomat Besnik Mustafai and others.
After Kosovo War of the year 1999, for 18 years on 17-22 November, Prishtina hosts the Book Fair, one of the first cultural activities held in Kosovo in freedom.
