Israeli ambassador in Belgrade: We recognized Kosovo on 4 September
Newly-appointed Israeli ambassador to Serbia, Jahel Vilan, stated today that "Israel recognized Kosovo on September 4 and that it is no longer an issue".
"There is no question mark on whether Israel will recognize Kosovo or not because Israel already did so on September 4 and now we have to look into ways for this to not affect Serbia-Israel relations," Vilan told TV N1.
Furthermore, "Israel did not sign anything in Washington and that was not part of that summit”, he said.
"An agreement has been signed between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, and the United States. Our Prime Minister (Benjamin Netanyahu) welcomed the mutual recognition of Israel and Kosovo," ambassador said when asked to comment on whether Israel's recognition of Kosovo would affect relations between Jerusalem and Belgrade.
