Kosovo mobile users reach nearly 2 mln in Q3, up 5%
Kosovo ended the third quarter of 2020 with 1.9 million mobile telephony users, up by 5 percent from the previous quarter but down 7 percent year-on-year.
According to the latest data from the Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications (Arkep), the penetration rate for the service was 107 percent (-8% y/y). Vala was the market leader with a 47.3 percent share, down from 49.3 percent the year before, followed by Ipko with 46.7 percent (against 40.4 year-on-year).
The number of active fixed telephony lines reached 76,839, down 1 percent on the previous quarter but up by 36 percent year-on-year, equal to a 25.8 percent penetration rate among households. Ipko had a 45 percent share (19% in Q3 2019), followed by Kosovo Telecom with 34 percent (50%), mts with 20 percent (28%), and Kutjesa Net with 1 percent (3%).
The number of fixed internet connections reached 362,099, up by 6 percent quarter-on-quarter and by 3 percent year-on-year. There were also 1.36 million mobile internet connections, up by 7 percent on the previous quarter and by 5 percent year-on-year.
Total revenue in the telecom sector amounted to EUR 30.3 million, down by 15 percent year-on-year, of which EUR 19.6 million came from mobile telephony (-23%), EUR 1.3 million from fixed telephony (-5%), and EUR 9.1 million from the internet (+7%). Mobile ARPU was EUR 3.36 (-17%), while CAPEX reached EUR 6.4 million (+33%).
