Vitia: Mass vaccination process begins today

Kosovo’s Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, told a press conference today that the mass vaccination against COVID-19 will begin today.

“The management of the pandemic and economic recovery remains priorities of the government. Today we are starting a crucial process for the management of the pandemic. The Ministry of Health together with health institutions has made all necessary preparations to implement the action plan for the mass vaccination of our citizens against COVID-19,” he said.

Vitia said that the first contingent of vaccines from the agreement with Pfizer is expected to arrive by the end of this month. “We have reached an agreement with Pfizer for over 1.2 million doses by the end of the year and together with the other doses from COVAX and our friends, we are expecting to have around 2 million doses by the end of the year,” he said.
