CBK, KIB meet senior officials of Council of Bureaus in Brussels
The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Mr. Fehmi Mehmeti together with Mr. Sami Mazreku, Director of the Kosovo Insurance Bureau (KIB), held a meeting with the Managing Director of the COB, Ms. Greet Floré, in Brussels.
The COB is the managing organization of the Green Card system, and the Secretariat of the COB operates in Brussels.
During the meeting with Ms. Greet Floré, the Kosovo delegation briefed her on the preparations that the Kosovo Insurance Bureau, together with the Central Bank of Kosovo and other relevant institutions in the country, has undertaken so far regarding the requirements of the process of membership in the COB, as well as the readiness for other steps in this direction.
Governor Mehmeti and Director Mazreku reiterated their commitment and that of the Republic of Kosovo to advance the financial system by creating the necessary capacities to ensure the readiness of the Kosovo Insurance Bureau to fulfill any obligations arising from the implementation of the Green Card system, adhering to the recognized international standards that regulate this field.
Based on the report presented by Mr. Mazreku, Director of the Kosovo Insurance Bureau, Kosovo proves that it has achieved several important objectives since the KIB has significantly reduced the number of unregistered motor vehicles and carried on the implementation of the Memoranda of Understanding with the Bureaux of the countries of the region.
Governor Mehmeti and Director Mazreku emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to cooperate on finding a solution for easy cross-border traffic from Kosovo to other countries and asked the COB to collaborate in that search. At the same time, Ms. Floré pledged that the possibilities for cooperation will be properly assessed in compliance with the rules governing the COB.
