The Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo, Ahmet Ismaili, reported to the Committee for Budgets, Labor, and Transfers about the Stabilization and Association Agreement and CBK regulations.

During the meeting, he mentioned the recent regulation that puts an end to the use of the dinar in Kosovo. The governor clarified that no international partners or anyone else has asked them to abolish the dinar.

He added that the claims that someone has been denied financing as a result of this regulation are false.

According to Ahmeti, the regulation has no impact on the acceptance of international transfers, and there is no legal reason to think that it has made it impossible to finance citizens in Kosovo. Meanwhile, the opposition criticized Ismaili for participating in the meeting in Brussels, where the issue of the dinar was discussed. The AAK MP, Pal Lekaj, accused the governor of acting illegally by participating in the discussions within the dialogue.

The governor responded by confirming that he did not negotiate anything during the meeting and that he represented Kosovo only to make it clear what the country can do to comply with the regulation. He also stated that the meeting was unnecessary.
