The Ministry of Economy is set to conduct an electronic auction for Kosovo`s first 100 MW solar project. Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli, and acting USAID Mission Kerry Monaghan Hogler will all participate in the event.

In May, the Ministry of Economy collaborated with USAID to host a Pre-Bid Conference for the solar auction. The conference was attended by over 200 participants and was broadcast globally in real-time.

Kosovo has made efforts to prioritize the development of its energy sector and is working closely with its partners including USAID, the European Commission, KfW, the World Bank, EBRD, IFCs, and other donors and the private sector to achieve this objective.

The Kosovo Government has recently implemented significant reforms in the electricity sector to liberalize and improve the electricity market. Through the new Energy Strategy 2022-2031 and the Draft Law on Renewable Energy Sources, Kosovo aims to create a new legal framework to encourage private investments in renewable sources.
