The first solar photovoltaic auction of 100 MW has been opened today, and Prime Minister Albin Kurti was present at the ceremony.
The opening of the offer is an important step for Kosovo. Five companies from Kosovo, France, Turkey, Egypt, Germany, and Switzerland will bid on this auction.
For over a year, institutions led by the Ministry of Economy have worked hard to develop a transparent process, aiming for a safe and globally competitive energy sector. The auction reflects these goals and will add 100 MW to Kosovo's energy production. The winning company will invest 70 million euros.
Although only one company will win today, the Prime Minister invites companies to work together on similar projects.
According to Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli, this project, along with others, aims to create a more secure energy sector. The government has prioritized investment in new generating capacities in renewable sources since the beginning of its mandate.
They insisted on holding the auction on public land to ensure efficient use of properties, and after many analyses, they selected the location of the municipality of Rahovec which offers many advantages for investors.
