The company "Apetit Shpk" has responded to a media report that claimed they imported meat from Brazil and falsely labeled it as being produced in Kosovo.
The company denied the allegations and stated that they agreed to export about one ton of beef produced by their own slaughterhouse.
However, the published video showed two different items being discussed - one of them being a steak imported from South America, which they offer on the market with different conditions. They claimed that the video was published in a tendentious manner to discourage their penetration into the Albanian market.
The company assured its customers and the public that its processes adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and transparency. They stated that their facilities and procedures are subject to rigorous supervision and inspection by relevant state authorities, including AVUK, Customs, and TAK.
Regarding the falsification of the origin of the meat, the Minister of Agriculture, Faton Peci, confirmed that it occurred by labeling the meat as being produced in Kosovo and selling it in Albania. The minister stated that an inspector was involved in this case and has been sent to the disciplinary commission.
The economic operator has imposed a ban on export-import, and a professional commission has been formed to audit, trace, and match all the inputs and outputs of the economic operator to confirm the raised suspicion.
The Kosovo Customs and TAK are also dealing with the case.
