Number of foreign tourists in Kosovo increasing

The Kosovo Tourism Union has organized the International Tourism Fair in Kosovo for 2024, with over 300 exhibitors from 15 countries participating, including Malta, African countries, and Slovenia for the first time.

The chairman of the Kosovo Tourism Union, Baki Hoti, stated that the number of foreign tourists has increased over the past year and this year.

He recommended that municipalities organize activities to attract international visitors. In 2023, there was a 28.4 percent increase in the number of international visitors compared to the previous year, and January 2024 saw over 50.8 percent increase in the number of international visitors.

Hoti called on institutions to prioritize and support tourism as it is a significant factor in employment. The mayor of the capital, Përparim Rama, emphasized the importance of the fair, stating that tourism professionals from over 15 different countries were participating, making it a vital goal for the capital.

The Deputy Minister of Industry, Mentor Arifaj, stated that the government is working on the development of the tourism sector and aims to offer digitalization of tourism and infrastructure improvement, as well as drawing up other plans for its development. Kosovo is increasingly becoming a favorite tourist destination, offering tourist towns, nature, traditional cuisine, and ski centers.
