Ismail Kadare, the influential Albanian writer known for his numerous works and poems translated into many languages, passed away at the age of 88 early this morning.

Born in Gjirokastër on January 28, 1936, Kadare had a diverse career as an academic, politician, and one of the most celebrated contemporary writers.

His contributions extended beyond prose to include dramaturgy, poetry, and translations, as reported by RTSH.
