Kurti presents plan for Ibër bridge opening to QUINT and EU

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the ambassadors of the QUINT countries and the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo. He presented the Government`s plan for opening the Mitrovica bridge over the Ibër River.

Accompanied by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with several ambassadors including the United States, France, Italy, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Germany. They discussed various developments in the country, employment, welfare measures, and policies in municipalities with a Serbian majority.

The Prime Minister highlighted the success of the "Government for Families" measure, which has facilitated the employment of 231 people in these municipalities. He also noted the increased interest of citizens from non-Serb majority communities in obtaining Republic of Kosovo documents, indicating their desire for sustainable integration.

This meeting took place 8 years after the discussions in Brussels regarding the implementation of the Mitrovica Bridge Agreement within the dialogue in Brussels.

Prime Minister Kurti presented the Government's plan, which includes tests for the infrastructural stability of the bridge, risk assessment, visual revitalization, discussions with citizens and interest groups, and a comprehensive information campaign.

The government emphasizes the bridge's importance as a symbol of normalization of relations in Kosovo and as a facilitator of contacts between citizens of North and South Mitrovica. The Government aims for the bridge to be open to everyone, promoting freedom of movement and integration of citizens.
