The American ambassador, Jeffrey Hovenier, has stated that he is not in favor of changing the current status of the Mitrovica bridge.

This position has been endorsed by the other countries in QUINT and consultation with the peacekeeping alliance, NATO.

"We, as representatives of France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, and the United States, have met with Prime Minister Kurti to inform him that our governments in consultation with NATO cannot support any change in the current status of the Mitrovica bridge at this time," said Hovenier.

He declined to disclose the reason for this stance. Yesterday, President Vjosa Osmani responded to the spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, by stating that the issue of the bridge should not be a topic of dialogue with Serbia.

"We never speculate on what-if scenarios. Our general position is that the agreements reached within the dialogue should be implemented. This is a longstanding obligation for both parties, and any steps and actions that have an impact on one side or the other must be resolved, discussed, and agreed upon, and taken forward within the framework of the EU-facilitated dialogue," said the Brussels spokesperson, Peter Stano.
