The Minister of Finance, Labor, and Transfers, Hekuran Murati, and the chief executive of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Bekir Gërguri, have signed two agreements totaling over 60 million euros to finance the solar energy project I (Solar4Kosovo).

The project involves the construction of a solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of up to 100 MW, which is expected to produce about 152 GWh of energy annually. The primary aim is to boost energy production from renewable sources and reduce the environmental impact of electricity generation in Kosovo.

As part of the project, solar panels will be installed in the fields of the former KEK ash dump near the power plants. Before installation, about 150 hectares of the former ash dump near Kosova A and the "Dragodan" ash dump will be revitalized. This initiative not only increases electricity production capacity but also enhances KEK's energy resource management and paves the way for investments in diverse energy sources in the future.
