The Albanian National Hero, Gjergj Kastrioti (Scanderbeg) burial site in Lezha continues to remain highly problematic.

The roof is damaged and the lighting system is out of order, while the marble columns are losing their natural colors.
Another problem is the current situation of the territory surrounding the burial site, which is being gradually transformed into a public toilet. 
This problematic situation has been going on for many years leading to the complete degradation of country's one of most important historic sites. 
A new project is currently being drafted by the Lezha city hall for a complete restoration of this historic asset. This fact was announced by the head of Lezha city planning office, Sokol Toma. 
The appeal to turn March 2, the day when Albanian leaders joined forces in the fights against Ottomans is now followed by another appeal for major care toward the emblem of that historic event. /Albaniannews
